Terry-Thomas might seem familiar to contemporary audiences… if you’ve seen the Johnny Depp film Mordecai, you’ve seen what can only be described as a solid Terry-Thomas impression.
Terry-Thomas is perhaps best known to audiences for his Hollywood work during the early and mid-1960s. In fact, this very blog showcased the actor just a few days ago to celebrate the birthday of Milton Berle. The two appeared together in 1963’s It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
However, the actor actually enjoyed a lengthy career in his home United Kingdom before his rather late Hollywood break. Terry-Thomas’ filmography shows the actor with roles (many of them uncredited) reaching as far back as 1933. He worked in fits and starts before seeing his career catch fire in the 1950s.
Terry-Thomas worked steadily throughout the later years of his career. His last credits come in the early 1980s.
Terry-Thomas passed away in 1990 at the age of 78.
