Earlier this week we celebrated the birthday of living legend Olivia de Havilland. Today, we see another of our silver screen legends celebrate a birthday.
Actress Eva Marie Saint initially came to stardom on television in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She hit the cinematic ground running with her screen debut in the 1954 classic On The Waterfront. She appears as Edie opposite Marlon Brando, Karl Malden and Rod Steiger in the Elia Kazan film, which is still known today as one of the greatest films to come out of the 1950s.
That opened the floodgates, and in the years that followed, she began working prolifically. In 1957 she appeared in the Alfred Hitchcock classic North by Northwest opposite Cary Grant. Well known roles followed in classics like Grand Prix and Raintree County.
Saint continued working up until recently. Her last billed role is for voice work in the 2014 series The Legend of Korra. In 2018 she came out to the Tuner Classic Movies Classic Film Festival in support of a showing of Grand Prix.
